DESCRIPTION:Join us this morning in the Chapel for the service at 10:00 a.m
 .\n \nMonday in Holy Week\nText: John 12: 1-11\n \nIn our passage this m
orning\, we hear of a visit Jesus made to Lazarus after he was raised from
the dead. During this visit\, Mary takes a pound of costly perfume\, made
of pure nard and anointed the feet of Jesus. Imagine the fragrance of who
le house. Judas Iscariot pipes up and says\, “Why was this perfume not s
old for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?” Jesus re
sponds\, “Leave her alone. She bought it so that she might keep it for t
he day of my burial. You always have the poor with you\, but you do not al
ways have me.”\n \nThe Question: \nWhere are you in the story?  Taking
sides with Judas or allowing your faith to side with Jesus?\n \n\n\nJohn
12:1-11 (New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\
n\nMary Anoints Jesus\n12 Six days before the Passover Jesus came to Beth
any\, the home of Lazarus\, whom he had raised from the dead. 2 There th
ey gave a dinner for him. Martha served\, and Lazarus was one of those rec
lining with him. 3 Mary took a pound of costly perfume made of pure nard
\, anointed Jesus’s feet\, and wiped them[a] with her hair. The house w
as filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 But Judas Iscariot\, one
of his disciples (the one who was about to betray him)\, said\, 5 “Why
was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the money given t
o the poor?” 6 (He said this not because he cared about the poor but b
ecause he was a thief\; he kept the common purse and used to steal what wa
s put into it.) 7 Jesus said\, “Leave her alone. She bought it[b] so
that she might keep it for the day of my burial. 8 You always have the p
oor with you\, but you do not always have me.”\nThe Plot to Kill Lazarus
\n9 When the great crowd of the Jews learned that he was there\, they cam
e not only because of Jesus but also to see Lazarus\, whom he had raised f
rom the dead. 10 So the chief priests planned to put Lazarus to death as
well\, 11 since it was on account of him that many of the Jews were des
erting and were believing in Jesus.\n\n\n
