Communion with the milestones of life
SERVICES AT ST JOHN’S
Aside from the weekly worship, the church holds significant services to help mark the transitional moments of life. If you are looking for assistance with any of the offices below, please use the form on this page, contact the church office or click the buttons to learn more.
What is Baptism? The sacrament of baptism represents the beginning of a new life in Christ and unites Christ with his people. At the time of baptism, we (or our sponsors on our behalf) make a life-long commitment to follow the path of Jesus Christ. Our baptism marks our formal entry as a member of the church, and any baptized person can receive receive Holy Communion.
What is Holy Communion? In the sacrament of Holy Communion (also called the Holy Eucharist) God makes use of physical elements (bread and wine) so that they become a means of experiencing God’s grace in a special way. In receiving Holy Communion, we celebrate and give thanks for all that God has done for us in our Savior Jesus Christ. “Do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19).
Congratulations on your engagement! Weddings are joyful occasions for the parish community. “Marriage is a gift of God and a means of grace, in which man and woman become one flesh. It is God’s purpose that, as husband and wife give themselves to each other in love, they shall grow together and be united in that love.” (BAS – pg 541)
What is confirmation? Confirmation marks the moment in your Christian journey where you affirm as an adult the faith into which you have been baptized and your personal decision to live a life of discipleship to Christ. This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands during your confirmation service.
A funeral is used to mark the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God’s keeping. At St John’s, we wish to support you at this time of bereavement. Arrange a funeral by contacting the church office or click here to learn more of how we can help you at this time.
