Worship with St John’s in Tillsonburg
WEDNESDAY WORSHIP
10:00AM BCP / HOLY EUCHARIST
Our Wednesday 10:00am service is a contemplative midweek service using the Book of Common Prayer 1962 (BCP). If you are looking for some spiritual refreshment and reflection we welcome you to join us. We hear from God’s word and share communion together at this service as well. This service generally runs about 50 minutes with a time of fellowship to follow.
What is the BCP?
Essentially, the BCP (Book of Common Prayer) is a book we use to lead us in worship. The BCP uses traditional wording and prayers that have been used in worship for hundreds of years. The BCP contains what are called the Offices – services of morning and evening prayer for daily worship, along with a table for one year of daily scripture readings. The BCP also contains forms for administering the sacraments and other rites and ceremonies of the Anglican Church: Holy Communion, Baptism, Matrimony, and Burials, and the ordination rites.

SUNDAY WORSHIP
8AM BCP / HOLY EUCHARIST
Our Sunday 8am service is a traditional spoken worship using the Book of Common Prayer 1962 (BCP). If you prefer a quiet, reflective start your day, we welcome you in worship. We hear from God’s word and share communion together. There is no music, organ or choir at this service. This service generally runs about 50 minutes.
Bible Study
After the 8am service, at various times of the year Fr Osita leads a Bible study at 9am pertinent to the readings and season of the church year. These Bible studies are timed such that the 8am worshipers can take part after the service whilst the 10:30am worshipers can attend prior to the service. Please check our church calendar here to see whether Bible studies are currently ongoing and to explore the topics in more detail.

10:30AM BAS / HOLY EUCHARIST
Our Sunday 10:30am service is a traditional choral service using the Book of Alternative Services (BAS). If you prefer music to accompany your worship, we welcome you to join us. We hear from God’s word and share communion together at this service as well. This service generally runs about 1 hour 30 minutes with a time of fellowship and refreshments to follow.
What is the BAS?
The Book of Alternative Services (BAS) was first published in 1985 and was written as a contemporary, inclusive-language liturgical accompaniment to the BCP. The BAS is frequently used alongside the BCP although in many parishes the BAS has become the primary worship text for Sunday services and other major liturgical celebrations of the Anglican Church of Canada. The BAS includes morning and evening prayer, services for Holy Communion and also contains the forms for administering the sacraments and other rites and ceremonies of the Anglican Church.

Join us in worship!
We look forward to meeting you!
Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 (NRSV)
